John Wood

John Wood proudly serves mortgage professionals throughout the Houston, Texas area, bringing over a decade of industry experience and a deep understanding of the local market to his role at Angel Oak.

A native Houstonian, John’s career in the mortgage industry began from the ground up—literally. He’s worked in nearly every department, from making copies to underwriting, giving him a comprehensive view of the loan process. With more than two years of direct experience in non-QM lending at Angel Oak, John has built strong relationships with some of Houston’s largest home builders, helping to maintain and grow their business through strategic insight and personalized service.

John was drawn to Angel Oak by the company’s growing market presence, its people, and his previous positive experiences working with the team. He thrives on the challenge of structuring loans and finding creative solutions, always advocating for his originators and equipping them with the tools and knowledge to succeed.

Outside of work, John enjoys spending time with his wife and two daughters, attending car shows and racing events, and cheering on University of Houston sports teams. He’s also passionate about automotive and wildlife photography.
